Unlike his previous persona the sixth Doctor displayed no weakness what so ever. In all respects he seemed fit and healthy with his regeneration a complete success. After seeing himself in a small hand held mirror for the first time, he revelled in his new appearance. "A clear gaze, a firm mouth. A face beaming with a vast intelligence" he somewhat arrogantly stated. It appeared that this was a man to whom the word modesty was a complete stranger.
Confident and self assured he stalked off to the wardrobe room while dismissing his last incarnation as having a sort of feckless charm. As he was changing into his new outfit he began to ramble and ended up in a crumpled heap on the floor consumed by terror. His regeneration had gone badly wrong - again. This time it was not so much a physical problem as a severe mental instability.
The situation continued to deteriorate as his moods began to swing from terror to arrogance. He even tried to strangle Peri . She saved herself by thrusting a mirror in his face causing the Doctor to he shy in terror. The regeneration did eventually stabalise but was at times a brash and sometimes just downright rude individual.
This Doctor was loud
and an attention seeker. However he still maintained compassion and
a strong sense of morality. The Doctor's relationship with Peri eventually improved and the two
become good friends. However this friendship was cut short by the
intervention of the Timelords. They put him on trial and set in
motion the apparent death of Peri (this later turned out not to be
the case).Grief-stricken and furious the Doctor swore to avenge her
death. He later discoverd that she had not in fact died but had
married and was living as a queen on a distant planet. With the
corrupt high council deposed and the charges against the Doctor
dropped, he was free to roam time and space once more.
While the Tardis was in flight it was struck by a series of energy bolts causing the Doctor to lose control and suffer fatal head injuries forcing him to regenerate again.
