Part 3
During the course of their explorations they encountered a race of Vampires which led to a bloody conflicted that nearly ended with the extinction of the Time Lord race.
Blessed with powers rivalling the Time Lords they proved almost invincible. The only way to kill the vampire was with a steak through the heart. The king of the Vampires led his army of vampires through victory after victory until he was mortally wounded by a bow ship constructed to Rassilon’s specifications which pierced the chest of the King. However he was not destroyed and disappeared from this Universe without trace. Rassilon ordered that any Time Lord encountering the King of the Vampires was to ensure his extermination no matter what the cost. The Time Lords were victorious and free to resume their exploration of time and space once more.
In many places the Time Lords were regarded as Gods, a source of some amusement for Time Lords but considered harmless enough. However for every Minyan who worshiped the Time Lords, there 2 who regarded them with fear and suspicion. Even though the Time Lords shared the benefits of their technology (including that of regeneration) they were still feared. This fear culminated in a massacre in which many Time Lords were murdered as they slept. Event their ability to regenerate wasn’t enough to save them as weapons were devised that prevented regeneration taking place. The surviving Time Lords retreated to Gallifrey. After an emergency session of the Time Lord High Council, of which Rassilon was President, it was decided that a policy of non intervention was decided upon.
This didn’t go down too well with a number of Time Lords a number of who defected from Gallifrey despite the new law of non intervention, thus becoming renegades. These renegades were largely ignored by the High Council as they were more concerned with the Time Wars with the Order of the Black Sun that had erupted. This was sparked by the assassination of the Elder of Black Sun at which the blame sat firmly at the feet of the Time Lords. Who committed the assassination is unclear but the war created devastation on a scale never seen before.
The stress of his battles with the Vampires, the Minyan massacre and the War with the Order of the Black Sun brought great stresses upon Rassilon and he succumbed to a great illness which brought about what was to be his 11th and final regeneration.
. Realising that he could no longer regenerate he instigated plans to create a computer so sophisticated that it would appear to house its own mini universe with its own rules of physics. Entrance was only possible via mental transference. After its creation Rassilon, nearing the end of his life had all his life experiences transferred over to the Matrix. He was entombed in the Death Zone.
